These are my presents!

So I decided to be on top of things this year and wrap the presents before we get on the plane for Salt Lake. So last night after the gifts were all wrapped I placed them in the bin that I will be checking at the airport. Lexi runs over and says "OOO look at all the presents for me lets open them!"
I said "No Lexi those are all of your cousins presents (not telling the truth hoping that if she thought they were not her's we could drop it) your presents are already at grandma's house" She says
"No mom these are all mine!" I then replied "How do you know they are all yours? Do you know what is in them" She looked at me very matter of fact and stated
"No, but look what it says L-E-X-I! That's me mom its for LEXI!" I then had to back track and explain that we have to wait for Christmas and that all of the presents do say her name due to the fact that some of them are from her dad and I and the others are hers but that she couldn't have them for a few more days. She was not at all satisfied with this answer and continued to ask me every half an hour if it was now time to open the presents. I guess in the future I will not fib, especially since I received the same outcome that I would have if I would have told her the whole truth.

It's my birthday...In January

Today for lunch Alexis and I joined my family at Bennihanas. Since my family is so huge the waitress ask "is it a birthday?" For those of you who have not been to Bennihana's it is an Asian hibachi grill (typically the staff is very authentic complete with heavy Asian accent). My mother of course says "Oh yes" and giggles. Lexi then yells "It's my birthday" then with a delay also states "in January". We finish with lunch and sure enough the entire staff comes out with ice cream and all to sing her happy birthday. It becomes apparent to me at this point that they didn't hear the January part of her little speach. Lexi at this point is looking around to see who they are singing to, knowing that it isn't her birthday. She is very excited to see the orange sherbet ice cream, and quickly forgets the confusion about the birthday. Oh well free ice cream!

Crazy English Lady in a Christmas sweater

Lexi and I were doing a little shopping in Target yesterday,I parked the cart next to a rack and began to look through to see if there was anything good when she started playing as we do:
L: "Mom are you spongebob, or Mr. Crabs?"
M: "Well Lexi who would you like me to be"
L: "I think you are Mr. Crabs"
M: "Perfect I will be Mr. Crabs, Who are you"
At this point I look back at her and she is staring at an older lady and asks
L: "Will you be patrick?" the lady replies "Sure"
My first though was she must have grandchildren, which was later confirmed
Lexi then says : "That is a pretty sweater" the Lady replies "Thank you it is my christmas sweater, what language do you speak" I then thought:
What do you mean what Language do you speak...didn't you just hear her talk? but I then said
"Lexi do we speak English?" then look at her and said "she is two" Lexi smiled and giggled and said "aaahh English" then the lady said "I am English, from England...and do you know santa brings presents to england too, he goes there first and children in England get much better presents than children in American" at this point Lexi is just staring really having no idea what the crazy women is talking about, and I for the first time ever am relieved that she is too young to understand. I then said "Oh Lexi I think we need to go to your section and see what we can find for you" I then politely smiled at the woman and quickly walked away. You have gotta love the holidays!

AHHH Mazing!

For all of you who know me it is not a big secret that I am not a morning person, and that I am always running at least 10 minutes behind in the morning. Most days for breakfast we do something quick that Lexi and I can both eat in the car. Lexi's favorites are toaster scrambles aka scrambles. They are wonderful eggs, cheese, and sausage with a crunch flaky outside how can you go wrong? Last week when I was at the grocery store I decided to buy toaster strudels with strawberry filling. So when we got in the car she was very excited to have scrambles I explained that these were new and called toaster strudels.
Her first bite "Oh my goodness mom strawberry jelly"
Second bite "it is so allichous!"
I reply: "Lexi I am so glad you like it"
Thrid bite "it is just AHHH mazing"
"AHHH Mazing" "AHHH Mazing MOM!"

Your my best friend

Last night Lexi climbed up on the couch with me to snuggle. We were watching the polar express waiting for Tim to get home from work. From the car ride home she was continually inquiring about when Tim would in-fact be home. After about fifteen times of answering her question with the same response. I told her
"Lexi daddy will be home soon, he is working". She then says
"Hey Mom",
"yes Lexi"
"My daddy is my favorite best friend" "when he gets home we are going to hang out!"

She was so excited, it was the cutest thing.

Ah the cops!

Today on the way home there was a police officer on the side of the interstate that had pulled someone over. The lights were flashing and Lexi briefly heard the siren roar at which point she yelled
"Ah the cops, stick your hands up" then she grinned and said "They'll never catch us!"
